Is Camp Acorn accredited?
Camp Acorn is currently undergoing the accreditation process with 2 separate organizations: Ontario Camps Association and HIGH FIVE. We are currently our final year of provisional status before becoming accredited. HIGH FIVE is a full-year accreditation period and we are currently identified as a pathway organization. We aim to be accredited by both organizations by the end of 2026 to continue to offer high caliber programs to Niagara children & youth!
Ontario Camps Association
The Ontario Camps Association (OCA) is a membership organization that sets the highest standards for camps and outdoor education centres in Ontario. OCA-accredited sites undergo a rigorous 2-year process, including annual reviews by experienced camp professionals, to ensure they meet over 600 Health and Safety Standards designed to protect campers and staff. Fully accredited camps represent the pinnacle of quality camping and continue to undergo regular 4-year reviews to maintain these high standards.
HIGH FIVE
HIGH FIVE® accreditation is Canada’s leading quality standard for children’s recreation and sport programs for ages 4–12. Established by Parks and Recreation Ontario in 2001, it focuses on healthy child development. Organizations earn accreditation by meeting staff training requirements, evaluating current practices, and completing regular program and policy assessments.
